When you need to resize an image
Images come from cameras and screens at sizes that rarely match what a form, template or website needs. A passport photo must be a specific size in pixels, a blog hero image must be a certain width, and a photo for a job portal must fit within exact dimensions. Resizing lets you set those dimensions precisely.
How to resize an image
- Open the resizer. Go to the Image Resizer. It runs entirely in your browser.
- Upload your image. Drop in a JPG, PNG or other image, or click to browse. You can resize several at once.
- Choose dimensions. Enter an exact width and height, a percentage, or a print size in centimetres.
- Download. Save the resized image to your device.
Pixels, percent or centimetres
- Pixels — set an exact width and height, ideal for web images and form uploads that specify dimensions.
- Percentage — scale the image by a factor, such as 50% or 200%, keeping proportions automatically.
- Centimetres — for print, set physical dimensions and the resizer converts them to pixels using print resolution.
Keeping the aspect ratio
If a form requires an exact size like 200x230 pixels, type both numbers. If you only specify one dimension, the other is scaled automatically to keep the image from being stretched or squashed. For documents and forms, this matters — a distorted photo looks unprofessional and may be rejected.
Tip: after resizing, compress the file with Image Compressor if it is still over the KB limit your portal requires.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize to an exact size in pixels?⌄
Yes. Enter the exact width and height you need and download. The output matches those dimensions.
Will resizing distort my image?⌄
Only if you force an aspect ratio that differs from the original. The resizer keeps proportions unless you set both dimensions explicitly.
Can I resize multiple images at once?⌄
Yes. Upload several files and resize them together with the same settings.
Are my images uploaded to a server?⌄
No. Everything runs locally in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
